Recycled Plastic
It may look ordinary at first, but once you know the material, this cup is actually quite fascinating. This is bio-plastic made from by-products of beer, red ginseng, white ginseng, and coffee grounds. The beer by-product cup has the color of beer, while the white ginseng cup has the color of white ginseng. It’s simple, yet striking.
The semi-transparent texture of the bio-plastic catches the eye. It’s made by mixing biodegradable resin with natural pulp powder. This material was used to create the hangers for Kolon Sport's Hannam Flagship store, as introduced in Episode 1 of the Conc Journal. Pulp powder can also be used in composites for synthetic fibers or construction materials.
The library's eco-friendly materials have little round stickers on them. Some materials have more than one sticker, as they are classified based on which part of their lifecycle is considered environmentally friendly. You can refer to the explanations on the stickers to better understand the materials.
